Because I was the biggest kid of my age in the neighborhood I thought I brought shame on my parents. My path to a full-blown eating disorder was fueled by early yo yo dieting that began at about age seven. Mom was not fat, but she dieted all week, every week and allowed herself to be bad on the weekends. Thus I learned to be bad or good on the number on the scale. I began to equate weight with love - the more weight, the less love.
